Syracuse, N.Y. (KHN) – A 25-year-old man was sentenced to five and a half years in prison on Wednesday for sending cocaine from California to New York, according to authorities.
Troy Alexander Mendez of California pled guilty on Tuesday to selling over 300 grams of methamphetamines and mailing them to a customer in Syracuse in August 2023, according to officials with the United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of New York.
Mendez sold the meth for $1,400, according to prosecution documents.
Law enforcement was able to retrieve the drugs supplied via the United States Postal Service, according to authorities, and Mendez was eventually identified as the sender.
Prosecutors said evidence suggested Mendez had previously sold drugs and owned many weapons in connection with that activity.
Mendez was sentenced to 66 months in federal prison for the distribution of prohibited narcotics.
