HOUSTON (KHN) – A train struck with an automobile Wednesday morning in southeast Harris County, killing the driver, according to investigators.
According to the Harris County Precinct 8 Constable’s Office, the collision occurred around 6:45 a.m. in the 11400 block of Galveston Road.
Deputies arrived on the scene and discovered that a gray Cadillac automobile had driven onto the train tracks from a lumber yard. A southbound Union Pacific train failed to stop in time and collided with the automobile.

Houston Fire Department paramedics arrived and took the driver out of the automobile. The 26-year-old male was brought to HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake Hospital and pronounced deceased. There was no other individual in the automobile.
The accident closed parts of Galveston Road as Precinct 8 and Union Pacific inspectors investigated the site. The case is still under investigation. The road reopened about 9 a.m.
