DUNN COUNTY, N.D. (KHN) – A Georgia lady was killed in a single-vehicle incident on a wet gravel road in Dunn County on Sunday night, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
The accident happened around 7 p.m. on February 25 on 9B St. NW, roughly a mile from the McKenzie County line in a rural area between Killdeer and Watford City.
Authorities said the driver, a 31-year-old woman from Lawrenceville, Georgia, was driving a 2016 GMC Sierra pickup when it left the road and overturned into Crosby Creek. She was wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead on the spot.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol reported that the weather was clear, but the road was wet due to recent precipitation. Gravel roads can become extremely slippery when wet, increasing the risk of losing control.
The Dunn County Sheriff’s Office, Killdeer Area Ambulance, West Dunn Fire Rescue, and the North Dakota Highway Patrol all responded to the crash.
The event is still under investigation by the NDHP.
