There is a broad Flood Watch in force in eastern Iowa and western Illinois, and the National Weather Service has issued a warning that flash flooding could develop as early as one in the morning on Saturday and continue until Sunday afternoon.
Cedar Rapids, Davenport, Rock Island, and Burlington are among the cities that are expected to be affected by many rounds of thunderstorms, as stated by the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities.
Especially after the tremendous rain that occurred the previous week left soils saturated across Benton, Linn, Scott, Henry, and surrounding counties, urban areas and places with inadequate drainage are at the biggest danger for quick flooding.
It is strongly recommended by local authorities that residents of low-lying areas, rivers, and streams, such as those in Iowa City, Muscatine, Macomb, and Moline, keep a close eye on the current conditions.
