Flash Flood Watch Issued for Iowa, Illinois from Early Saturday Through Sunday

There is a broad Flood Watch in force in eastern Iowa and western Illinois, and the National Weather Service has issued a warning that flash flooding could develop as early as one in the morning on Saturday and continue until Sunday afternoon.

Cedar Rapids, Davenport, Rock Island, and Burlington are among the cities that are expected to be affected by many rounds of thunderstorms, as stated by the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities.

Especially after the tremendous rain that occurred the previous week left soils saturated across Benton, Linn, Scott, Henry, and surrounding counties, urban areas and places with inadequate drainage are at the biggest danger for quick flooding.

It is strongly recommended by local authorities that residents of low-lying areas, rivers, and streams, such as those in Iowa City, Muscatine, Macomb, and Moline, keep a close eye on the current conditions.

In the event that water levels increase overnight, it is possible that there will be temporary closures or hazardous circumstances on important roadways such as Interstates 74, 80, and 61.

There is a possibility that flash flooding will occur unexpectedly, which will make travel hazardous and necessitate rapid action.

Residents must to have a strategy in place to relocate to higher ground, charge their electronic gadgets, and steer clear of driving on routes that are flooded.

It is important to stay informed about future warnings since the patterns of rainfall may change, and additional cautions may be issued. At the very least until Sunday afternoon, the Flood Watch will continue to be into place.
