In Riverside County, California, authorities have apprehended a Perris man on suspicion of trafficking fentanyl and other illicit drugs, following a raid at his home that uncovered troubling circumstances involving a child.
Miguel Angel Lopez, aged 43, was arrested by Riverside County sheriff’s deputies after an extensive investigation into narcotics sales, revealed Riverside County Sheriff’s Sgt. Kamal Kabbara. The investigation culminated in the execution of a search warrant at Lopez’s residence in the 1000 block of Ruby Road in Perris.
During the raid, law enforcement officers seized a significant quantity of illegal substances, including hundreds of multicolored fentanyl pills, fentanyl powder, and methamphetamine, along with a substantial amount of cash. Additionally, they confiscated items such as ballistic panels, ammunition, and a collapsible baton.
The seriousness of the situation escalated when deputies discovered a 12-year-old child unattended in close proximity to the narcotics. Swift action was taken to ensure the child’s safety, and they were subsequently placed under the care of a relative.
Miguel Angel Lopez now faces a range of charges, including possession of a controlled substance for sale, transportation of a controlled substance, child endangerment, and various other offenses related to firearms and probation violations, according to Kabbara’s statement. He is presently detained at the Cois Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta, with bail set at $350,000, according to sheriff’s inmate records.
