KHN – An 81-year-old Daytona Beach man died in a crash in Ormond Beach on Thursday night, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers reported that the incident occurred at 7:26 p.m. on State Road 40 east of Shadow Crossing Boulevard.
According to Trooper Migdalisis Garcia, the Daytona driver was stopped in a driveway near a stop sign in a Ford F-150 before turning left to travel east on SR 40 and colliding with a GMC Sierra.
The 16-year-old driver of the GMC Sierra was going west when he collided with the F-150, according to troopers.
The incident forced both vehicles to overturn, with the F-150 in the west lane of SR40 and the GMC Sierra in the median, according to troopers.
The Daytona guy died at the site of the crash, while the 16-year-old driver from Ormond Beach was transferred to Halifax Health Medical Center with critical but non-life-threatening injuries, Garcia said.
The Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.
