Fatal Crash Near Mt. Rose Highway Leaves 63-year-old Carson City Man Dead, Investigation Ongoing

KHN The Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the man who died in a crash near Mount Rose Highway and Wedge Parkway on Tuesday.

Perry L. Murrell, 63, of Carson City was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash.

Multiple blunt force injuries sustained during a collision between a car and an SUV were the cause of death. The cause of death has been determined as an accident.

This case’s law enforcement investigation is being handled by the Nevada State Police.

It occurred shortly after 6 a.m. on Wedge Parkway, involving two vehicles: a 2014 Infiniti QX80 and a 2010 Honda Accord.

According to Nevada State Police, the Accord collided with the SUV after driving into oncoming traffic.

“One driver is confirmed deceased at this time, and the other driver has sustained suspected minor injuries,” says Nevada Highway Patrol Sgt. Chris Brown.

Troopers have not yet revealed whose driver died.

They blocked the freeway for several hours to investigate, but it reopened later that morning.
