Super Bowl weekend is upon us, and residents of New Jersey are busy making preparations for the big game. Whether it’s stocking up on snacks and finger foods or placing catering orders for the ultimate game day spread, supermarkets and restaurants are bracing themselves for a busy weekend.
For many New Jersey residents like Moonachie’s Jen Turbay and her husband, Super Bowl Sunday means gathering essentials days in advance. From finger foods to party favorites, the shopping carts are filling up as people gear up for the festivities.
Meanwhile, restaurants like Biggie’s are gearing up for a nonstop weekend of catering orders. With a wall full of orders ranging from wings to sliders, they’re prepared to handle the influx of customers and even take on additional orders during halftime.
At Stew Leonard’s in Paramus, the anticipation is high, especially in the meat department. Vice President of Operations Nevin Philip shares that their chefs are gearing up to make a staggering 40,000 pounds of chicken wings, with an additional 20,000 pounds being sold from the meat department. Additionally, a new addition to this year’s shopping list is the “TNT” cupcakes, featuring Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce themes, which are already garnering attention from fans.
The idea for these unique cupcakes came from a member of the Leonard family, who happens to be a Taylor Swift fan, and they cleverly reference Swift’s “1989” album and Kelce’s jersey number, 87. Residents like Hoboken’s Jane Dunleavey are excited to bring these cupcakes to their Super Bowl gatherings, adding a fun twist to the traditional game day snacks.
Laura Fram from Pompton Lakes appreciates the nod to the Midwest with the Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce cupcakes, especially in a region dominated by Giants fans.
As Super Bowl Sunday approaches, both supermarkets and restaurants are ready to cater to the needs of fans across New Jersey. While fans enjoy the game, establishments like Biggie’s are prepared to host crowds and fulfill orders, ensuring that everyone has plenty of food to enjoy during the festivities.
