A New Jersey politician has been arrested in connection with an illegal gambling operation, as reported by ABC 7.
Anand Shah, a council member from Prospect Park, was one of 40 individuals arrested in the bust. A press release from the New Jersey Attorney General’s office states that Shah allegedly ran illegal poker games and an online sportsbook, linked to the Lucchese Crime Family.
Prospect Park Mayor Mohamed T. Khairullah addressed Shah’s arrest on social media, emphasizing the administration’s commitment to ethics and accountability.
“I want to reaffirm that this administration holds all public officials to the highest standards of ethics and accountability. Our commitment to lawful and transparent governance remains firm,” Khairullah wrote on Facebook.
