A vehicle burglary spree in San Antonio, Texas, came to a halt as police apprehended four suspects involved in the criminal activity. Cedric Howard (23), Mark Lopez (23), Fabian Gonzales (19), and Daniel Casillas (21) now face charges related to firearm theft and hindering apprehension, according to the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD).
The incident began with the theft of two firearms from a vehicle parked at Academy Sports on Loop 410 and Vance Jackson. The suspects then proceeded to a parking lot near the Ashley Store on I-10, where they allegedly burglarized another vehicle. Their spree took a dangerous turn when they attempted to burglarize a third vehicle at the Home Depot on I-10 and De Zavala. The owner confronted the suspects, prompting them to pull out a gun. In self-defense, the victim fired his own weapon at the burglars.
After the confrontation, the suspects fled in a stolen blue sedan but crashed it in a Top Brass parking lot less than two miles away. Undeterred, they continued on foot, with witnesses reporting their entry into a white sedan. Law enforcement swiftly responded, intercepting the suspects as they drove past the police substation on Prue Road near Fredericksburg Road. Thanks to the coordinated efforts of patrol officers, the suspects were arrested without further incident.
While Fabian Gonzales does not have a significant criminal history in Bexar County, the other three suspects have previously faced charges including burglary, theft, evading arrest, and unlawful possession of firearms.
The apprehension of these individuals represents a significant victory for the community’s safety, as it puts a stop to their criminal activities and potentially prevents future incidents of vehicle burglary and firearm theft. The swift response by law enforcement demonstrates their commitment to ensuring the security and well-being of residents in San Antonio.
