In a significant development on February 16, 2024, the culmination of a weeks-long narcotics sales investigation led to the apprehension of 43-year-old Miguel Angel Lopez, a resident of Perris, by the Perris City and Perris County Special Enforcement Teams. Lopez’s arrest, conducted on charges related to fentanyl sales, was followed by the execution of a search warrant at his residence situated in the 1000 block of Ruby Road in Perris.
During the search, law enforcement officials made a startling discovery, unearthing a cache of illicit substances and weaponry. Among the confiscated items were hundreds of multi-color fentanyl pills, fentanyl powder, and methamphetamine, indicative of Lopez’s alleged involvement in the illicit drug trade. Additionally, authorities seized a significant sum of cash, suggesting the lucrative nature of Lopez’s illegal activities.
The gravity of the situation escalated further with the recovery of ballistic panels, ammunition, and a collapsible baton, underscoring the potential for violence associated with the narcotics trade. Recognizing the imminent danger posed to the child’s well-being, deputies swiftly intervened, ensuring the safe removal of the minor from the hazardous environment. The child was subsequently placed in the care of a relative, shielding them from further exposure to the illicit substances and associated risks.
In light of the egregious nature of the offenses, Miguel Angel Lopez was promptly booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center on a multitude of charges. These charges encompass possession for sale of a controlled substance, transportation of a controlled substance, and child endangerment, reflecting the severity of the situation. Moreover, Lopez faces additional charges, including being a felon in possession of ammunition and body armor, possession of a collapsible baton, violation of probation, and a felony warrant for possession for sale of a controlled substance.
