Despite forecasts of persistent showers, thousands of attendees flocked to the event, showcasing a resilient spirit and unwavering enthusiasm for the annual celebration of Black culture.
An early morning shower briefly delayed the festival’s opening at the Carter G. Woodson African American Museum. However, the skies cleared up, granting attendees the opportunity to immerse themselves in a day filled with festivities and cultural enrichment. From insightful discussions led by renowned figures like James Beard Award-winning author Adrian Miller, known as The Soul Food Scholar, to captivating live performances by local rising star Shayann, the festival offered a diverse array of experiences for all to enjoy.
At the heart of the event was a commitment to improving the health and well-being of the Black community, as evidenced by the presence of numerous community service organizations offering valuable resources and engaging with attendees. Additionally, vendors experienced remarkable success, with many reporting sell-out products, further enhancing the positive atmosphere and sense of camaraderie throughout the day.
