Three Shootings Reported in Just Over 24 Hours During Violent Weekend in Volusia County

Volusia County experienced a wave of violence over the weekend, with three shootings happening in just over 24 hours. One person died, and several others were injured in incidents that shocked the local community and prompted quick responses from law enforcement.

The first shooting happened late Saturday night in Daytona Beach. Around 11 p.m., police were called to the area of South Nova Road and Bellevue Avenue.

According to Daytona Beach police, one person was found with a gunshot wound. The victim was quickly taken to the hospital and is expected to survive. Officers are still investigating what led to the shooting and whether the victim knew the attacker.

Just hours later, early Sunday morning, a second shooting was reported in DeLand. Around 1:30 a.m., officers responded to reports of gunfire on West Euclid Avenue. When police arrived, they found two people who had been shot.

One of them, a man in his 30s, died at the scene. The other victim was rushed to the hospital. His condition has not been released yet. Police say they are looking into what caused the fight that led to the shooting and are working to identify any suspects.

The third shooting happened Sunday evening in Deltona. Deputies with the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office were called to Normandy Boulevard around 7 p.m. after getting reports of gunshots in a residential neighborhood.

When deputies arrived, they found a man who had been shot in the leg. He was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to witnesses, the shooting may have started as an argument between neighbors that escalated. No arrests have been made so far, but the sheriff’s office says they are following several leads.

The back-to-back shootings have raised concerns among residents. Many are worried about the growing violence in the area and the safety of their neighborhoods. People living near the shooting locations say they are shocked and frightened by what happened over the weekend.

Law enforcement agencies are urging anyone with information about these shootings to come forward. Police believe that community help will play a big role in solving these cases. They are reviewing surveillance footage, talking to witnesses, and collecting evidence from the scenes.

Sheriff Mike Chitwood of Volusia County spoke about the violence during a press briefing. He said, “This kind of violence is unacceptable. We are doing everything we can to find those responsible and keep our communities safe.”

The sheriff’s office and police departments in Daytona Beach, DeLand, and Deltona are now working together to see if there’s any link between the three shootings, although right now, officials believe the incidents are separate.

Gun violence has been a growing concern not just in Volusia County but across the state of Florida. Community members and local leaders are calling for more action, including increased police patrols and more community outreach programs to address the root causes of violence.

As of now, no one has been arrested in connection with any of the three shootings, but investigations are ongoing. Authorities are asking anyone with details or tips to contact Crimestoppers anonymously or reach out directly to local law enforcement.

The weekend’s events have left many in Volusia County shaken. With one person dead and others hurt, the community is left looking for answers—and justice.
