A 33-year-old woman from Florida has been arrested after allegedly beating a 9-year-old boy for washing dishes incorrectly. Daniela Raymond was taken into custody on Tuesday and charged with felony aggravated child abuse resulting in great bodily harm, according to police records.
The incident occurred on Sunday evening, when Miami-Dade Police responded to a call about possible child abuse at a home on NW 111th Street. Upon arriving, officers spoke with the child, who told them what had happened.
The boy claimed that Raymond became upset when she didn’t approve of how he washed the dishes. In response, Raymond allegedly grabbed a kitchen pot and hit him on the head, causing a large cut on his scalp.
Raymond is said to have been unhappy with the severity of the punishment, so she reportedly ordered the boy to place his hand on a table. She then struck his left hand with the pot, breaking his middle finger.
Following this, Raymond continued to hit the child on his arms and back with the pot before kicking him in the stomach. The boy had visible bruises on his arms, back, and stomach.
Raymond was later interviewed by detectives, but the details of her statement were not included in the police affidavit. The exact relationship between Raymond and the child has not been disclosed by authorities.
Raymond was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center and is being held without bond.
She appeared in court on Wednesday, where she pleaded not guilty to the charges. A court hearing has been scheduled for Thursday morning.
