KHN – A 15-year-old boy was stabbed to death in an affluent San Jose, California, shopping mall while on a Valentine’s Day date.
David Gutierrez was on a date with his fiancée to celebrate the holiday when he was attacked by a bunch of youngsters, according to his family’s GoFundMe page. David was “beaten and then stabbed in the heart.”
“David fought for his life but didn’t make it to surgery,” the GoFundMe said.
According to a news release, the San Jose Police Department’s units responded at about 7:14 p.m. on Feb. 14 to the 300 Block of Santana Row after receiving reports of a dispute and someone being stabbed. Upon arrival, they discovered the teen victim “suffering from at least one stab wound.”
Despite rapid life-saving procedures, David died of his injuries at a local hospital following the sad act of violence.
The individuals fled the scene and have yet to be identified or charged, according to the announcement.
“Our precious young boy is an amazing young man whose life was taken too soon at the age of 15,” his family stated in a statement to ABC7News. “He enrolled in college-bound coursework to assist him get ready for college. He was involved in the community church activities.
David was said to like boxing with his friends and was a member of a boxing gym in Redwood City. His family told ABC7 that he was “kind, empathetic, with a gentle demeanor” who brightened up any room.
The family is now distraught and questioning why anybody would want to injure David, telling ABC7: “We are at a complete loss and trying to process this incomprehensible act of violence.”
