2 Dead, Several Injured in Four-car Crash on I-75—Driver Failed to Brake, Police Say

DETROIT (KHN)According to Michigan State Police, a four-vehicle incident on Sunday afternoon resulted in many fatalities.

The incident occurred just before 4 p.m. on southbound I-75 near Mack Avenue.

The crash killed a Novi male, 50, and a Farmington Hills lady, 56.

According to Michigan State Police, the driver of a 2001 Ford Crown Victoria was driving in the left lane when she collided with a 2021 Chevy Traverse that was braking for stopped traffic. The SUV was converted into a 2022 Kia Telluride. This car was then rammed into a 2024 Jeep Wrangler.

According to police, the at-fault driver did not apply her brakes before the crash.

According to investigators, the male victim was a passenger in the at-fault vehicle, while the second victim was a passenger in the Kia. Several more persons were treated for minor injuries.

“It is important for all drivers to remember that every time they get behind the wheel they are not only responsible for themselves and their passengers, but others that they share the road with as well.”

MSP Lt. Mike Shaw commented. “Driving requires us to pay complete attention at all times. Driving circumstances can change in an instant, and if drivers are not paying attention, the consequences can be fatal.
