Former WWE boss Vince McMahon is cited for reckless driving in Connecticut crash

A few hours before Hulk Hogan’s death made headlines, former WWE CEO Vince McMahonis was cited as praising the wrestling legend after he was accused of causing a mishap on a Connecticut highway that destroyed his Bentley and damaged two other automobiles.

Following the collision on the Merritt Parkway in Westport last Thursday morning, McMahon received a citation for careless driving and following too closely, according to a report from state police. There were no injuries. On a $500 bond, he was freed and told to show up in Stamford Superior Court on August 26.

On Wednesday, McMahon representatives did not immediately respond to emails. The crash was initially reported by TMZ on Tuesday.

As McMahon’s 2024 Bentley Continental GT Speed rested on a tow truck in Westport, photos shot by Barbara Doran, one of the crash participants, revealed significant damage to the front end of the vehicle. Doran’s BMW 430 also has rear-end damage shown in the pictures.

According to the police report, McMahon rear-ended the BMW and collided with a wooden guardrail while traveling north on the parkway, commonly known as Route 15. According to state police, debris from the collision went over the barrier and struck an automobile moving in the southbound lanes.

According to authorities, all three drivers were buckled up and there were no passengers in the vehicles. According to the police report, McMahon’s car’s air bags went out. According to Doran, her BMW’s air bags didn’t work.

New York City resident Doran claimed that when McMahon struck her, she was in the correct lane. According to her, the impact caused her automobile to go off the road.

And then, all of a sudden, I was traveling in the right lane. You can see the skid marks where I was frantically attempting to stay on the road after I was struck from behind and flung forward, she added.

According to Doran, a state trooper informed her that McMahon, whom she didn’t know anything about, was the second driver. She claimed that following the collision, she spoke with McMahon.

He simply said that he was worried and that he was relieved that I was okay. Doran, 72, added, “And I thanked him for his concern.”

In 2022, as the WWE was looking into claims of sexual misconduct, McMahon resigned as CEO.Additionally, he quit last year as executive chairman of the board of directors of TKO Group Holdings, the parent company of WWE, just one day after a former WWE employee accused him of sexual abuse. The accusations have been refuted by McMahon. The case is still pending.

In 1982, McMahon acquired the World Wrestling Federation, turning it from a local wrestling organization into a global sensation. He appeared as himself at WWE events in addition to managing the business with his wife, Linda, who is currently the U.S. education secretary.
