Jefferson County Commission Ratifies Dissolution of Hallmark Farm Cooperative

The Jefferson County Commission has officially approved the dissolution of the Hallmark Farm Cooperative, marking the end of a significant chapter in the county’s agricultural history.

This decision follows the cooperative board’s vote earlier in the week to disband the entity. Commissioner Joe Knight introduced the resolution during the commission’s committee meeting, leading to its ratification.\

The Hallmark Farm Cooperative was established in 2019 as a joint venture between Jefferson County and the city of Warrior. Its primary purpose was to manage the 567-acre Hallmark Farm property located near Warrior, Alabama.

This land was purchased with the vision of transforming it into a hub for agricultural development and community events.

In March 2025, the Jefferson County Commission approved the sale of the Hallmark Farm property for $13.5 million to the Agriculture Exhibition Center Corporation (AECC). The AECC, backed by the Alabama Farmers Federation and state officials, plans to develop the Alabama Farm Center on this site.

The center is envisioned as a state-of-the-art facility that will host livestock shows, equestrian competitions, rodeos, concerts, and educational programs, aiming to boost tourism and economic growth in the region.

The dissolution of the Hallmark Farm Cooperative signifies the transition of the property from county and city management to a broader state-backed initiative.

With the AECC at the helm, the development of the Alabama Farm Center is poised to become a significant asset for Alabama’s agricultural community and the state’s economy
