A young man was found dead early Monday morning in the parking lot of a Dothan Walmart, according to police. The incident happened near the store located on Montgomery Highway.
Dothan Police officers responded to a call around 6:00 a.m. after someone noticed a vehicle had been sitting in the parking lot overnight.
When authorities arrived, they found a young man unresponsive inside the vehicle. Emergency medical personnel were called to the scene, but the man was pronounced dead.
Investigators have not yet released the identity of the individual. They have also not shared the exact cause of death, but say there are no signs of foul play at this point. The body has been sent for an autopsy to help determine what happened.
The area where the car was parked was temporarily blocked off while police conducted their investigation. Shoppers were allowed to continue entering the store, but a visible police presence remained for several hours.
Authorities are in touch with the man’s family and will share more details once the investigation progresses. For now, officials are treating the case as an unattended death.
The Dothan Police Department is asking anyone who may have seen something unusual in the Walmart parking lot overnight to come forward and share any helpful information.
