A woman was pulled from a canal near Hawthorne Road in Bannock County on Tuesday morning after a fast and brave response by people nearby.
Emergency crews from Pocatello Fire Department were called just before 9 a.m. after someone saw a person floating in the canal. Several bystanders didn’t wait for help to arrive — they jumped into action to save the woman.
The group managed to pull her out of the water before the fire department arrived. According to officials, the woman was taken out of the canal safely, and medical aid was given right after.
Thanks to the quick action of the people at the scene, the woman is expected to recover. Pocatello Fire Department praised the efforts of those who helped and said this rescue could have ended differently if no one had stepped in.
