Victoria Man on Probation Arrested in Brazoria County on New Assault Charges

A man from Victoria who was already on probation has been arrested in Brazoria County and is now facing new assault charges.

According to officials, on May 8, 2024, the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office notified the Victoria County District Attorney’s Office that Joseph Guerrero had been taken into custody. The news prompted action from the DA’s office, which has now filed a motion to revoke Guerrero’s probation.

Guerrero was originally given a probated sentence in 2022 after being found guilty of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Instead of serving prison time, he was put on probation. However, this new arrest could change that.

The Victoria County DA’s Office confirmed that Guerrero is being held in the Brazoria County Jail. They are now working to have him returned to Victoria County to face the consequences of violating his probation.

Officials added that if Guerrero is found guilty of violating the terms of his probation, he could be ordered to serve his original prison sentence.

The case is still under review, and further details will be shared once Guerrero is brought back to Victoria County.
