Savannah Man Sentenced to Life Without Parole for 2021 Convenience Store Murder

A man from Savannah has been sentenced to life in prison without the chance of parole after being found guilty of shooting and killing someone at a convenience store.

The man, Javaris Davis, is 26 years old. He was convicted in Chatham County Superior Court for the murder of 33-year-old Christopher Collins. The shooting happened back in November 2021 at the Parker’s gas station on Ogeechee Road in Savannah.

According to investigators, the two men got into an argument while inside the store. Things quickly turned violent, and Davis pulled out a gun and shot Collins in the head at close range. Collins was taken to a nearby hospital but didn’t survive.

Police arrested Davis shortly after the shooting. The investigation included video footage from the store, witness statements, and physical evidence that helped secure the conviction.

In court, the jury found Davis guilty of multiple charges, including felony murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during a crime. The judge gave him the maximum sentence—life in prison without parole.

Prosecutors said this case highlights the dangers of how quickly a fight can turn deadly. They also thanked local law enforcement and witnesses for helping them bring justice to the victim’s family.
