Luiz Incio Lula da Silva, the president of Brazil, had emergency surgery to stop the bleeding in his brain.
An Associated Press translation of a medical statement posted on his official X account on Tuesday stated that the 79-year-old Marxist politician, known as Lula, had the surgery after an MRI revealed a cerebral hemorrhage.
According to a translation of the medical statement, Lula’s surgery went successfully, and she is currently under observation in the intensive care unit of Srio-Liban’s Hospital in São Paulo, in southeast Brazil. It further stated that he was moved from Brasilia, the capital, where he underwent an MRI on Monday.
Lula suffered a visible gash on the back of his head, just above his neck, after falling at home earlier this year. According to a translation of the hospital’s medical report, doctors think the two instances are connected.
According to a statement at the time from his office, Lula was obliged to postpone his scheduled journey to Kazan, a city in southwest Russia, for the BRICS meeting because of the prior accident.
According to the announcement on Tuesday, doctors will give more information at a news conference on Tuesday.
One of the first people to openly wish Lula a speedy and complete recovery was Labor Minister Luiz Marinho, who did so Tuesday morning on X.
