Deadly Crash Near Astoria Leaves 92-year-old Woman Dead, Two Others Injured—investigation Ongoing

KHN – A 92-year-old Astoria woman died and two unnamed others were injured after a multi-vehicle crash in Fulton County on Monday afternoon.

According to Illinois State Police, officers responded to an accident involving two passenger automobiles and a commercial vehicle at the intersection of U.S. Route 24 and Bucher Road near Astoria at 3:42 p.m. One person was pronounced dead, while two others were sent to surrounding hospitals with injuries.

Fulton County Coroner Austin Rhodes identified the crash fatality as 92-year-old Roberta Workman of Astoria on Tuesday. The Fulton County Coroner’s Office performed an autopsy Tuesday morning.

According to Rhodes, preliminary assessments indicate that Workman died as a result of injuries experienced during the incident.

Workman was a passenger in one of the privately owned automobiles involved in the incident, which is still being investigated by the Fulton County Coroner’s Office and Illinois State Police.

Astoria, a village of approximately 900 people, is located 60 miles southwest of Peoria.
