The distressing incident unfolded around 2:45 p.m. in the 600 block of 12th Street Drive West, where the 18-year-old victim sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the chest, as detailed in the official report released by the authorities.
In addition to the tragic loss of life, a 17-year-old boy from Palmetto also fell victim to the violence, suffering a gunshot wound to the leg. Thankfully, he is expected to recover from his injuries.
Due to the sensitive nature of the case, the identities of both victims are being withheld in compliance with Marsy’s Law, a legal provision aimed at safeguarding the privacy of crime victims.
