FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (KHN) – The Fayetteville Police Department has charged a man with murder after three persons were discovered dead from stab wounds. Just before 9 a.m., officers responded to a stabbing report at a home in the 200 block of Bellarthur Lane.
Someone called from inside the house.
When officers arrived, they discovered three people had died from stab wounds. According to FPD, two of the victims were juveniles, while the third was an old woman.
One individual was arrested at the spot. On Friday night, FPD identified him as Mackendy Darbouze, age 26.
Darbouze was charged with three counts of first-degree murder and was sent to the Cumberland County Detention Center without bond.
A preliminary investigation found that everyone involved in the case knew one another. The adult victim was identified by police as Beatrice Desir, aged 77. Because of their ages, the juveniles slain were not identified.
“This is a tragic incident that affects our entire community and the well-being of our first responders,” an FPD spokeswoman stated in a press release.
Shayla Creighton lives down the street from the bodies that were discovered by authorities.
“It’s devastating to know that it was three (people) that lives have been taken,” according to her. “They were new to the neighborhood, and all we do is just usually just say ‘hello.'”
Creighton returned home Friday morning to see crime scene tape up in the neighborhood.
“My heart just fell to the ground, so I just immediately started to pray for them because I wouldn’t want to be in that situation,” Creighton said. “Their lives is taken away from them so abruptly.”
The statement also stated that the FPD’s victim advocate and the Phoenix Center are working closely with the impacted family and provide peer support to first responders.
Police claimed it was an isolated event with no ongoing public threat.
Anyone with additional information about the case is asked to contact Detective B. Campbell at (910) 813-8012.
