JACKSONVILLE (KHN) – Officials in Florida held a news conference to talk about the “Senior Assassin” Game, which is a practice among high school students.
A high school football player from Jacksonville, Florida, was shot in the arm by a Florida Department of Law Enforcement officer who wasn’t on duty while the famous game was going on.
The Nassau County Sheriff’s Office says the shooting between the student and the FDLE agent happened around 6 a.m. on Yulee’s Purple Martin Drive, when the FDLE agent saw “three people prowling outside their residence in the dark.”
Jacksonville Sheriff T.K. Waters, Nassau County Sheriff Bill Leeper and Neptune Beach Police Chief Michael Key spoke during the news conference.

“These types of games may seem innocent, but when you have young people sneaking around in the dark and carrying objects that could be mistaken for weapons, you’re creating a potentially deadly situation,” Leeper said.
Students in different groups shoot each other with water guns until only one team is left.
The shooting happened in Nassau County around 6 a.m., when the FDLE agent saw three people standing outside of homes in a private area.
The college student was taken to a nearby hospital for care, and the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office says he should fully recover.
