Fort Worth Woman Charged With Murder After Allegedly Ramming SUV Into Boyfriend’s Car, Killing Him in Deadly Crash

FORT WORTH, Texas (KHN)- A Fort Worth woman is facing a murder charge after allegedly triggering a tragic crash that killed her lover.

Emily Garcia, 29, was arrested on Monday for allegedly slamming her SUV into the automobile of her boyfriend of four months, Miguel Moreno, 34, resulting in a deadly crash, according to the affidavit.

On February 15, 2025, surveillance footage and witnesses saw a gold Chevrolet Tahoe pursue and intentionally ram a brown Chevrolet Trailblazer until the Trailblazer lost control, collided with a Nissan Sentra, and crashed into a pole in Fort Worth’s 3400 block of Northeast 28th Street, according to the document.

When first responders came, they rescued two men: Moreno, who was pronounced dead at the site, and his brother-in-law, who was sent to a local hospital with critical injuries, according to the affidavit.

After the crash, investigators reviewed the witness footage, which showed Moreno walking and trying to evade Garcia, who was driving recklessly in the Tahoe, by squeezing in between automobiles in a parking lot, according to the affidavit.

According to the affidavit, Moreno raced into the front passenger seat when his brother-in-law arrived in the Trailblazer to pick him up. According to the police report, Garcia purposefully crashed into the car’s passenger side, causing Moreno and his brother-in-law to flee.

According to the affidavit, Garcia chased the two men in her Tahoe, sometimes driving on the wrong side of the road and striking the Trailblazer’s back until the car lost control and collided with a power post. Medstar personnel pronounced Moreno deceased at about 1 p.m.

According to the affidavit, Garcia was present when officers arrived, parked in the middle with evident damage to the front of the Tahoe. Garcia was interviewed by detectives, who initially indicated that she was simply driving by when she saw the collision and discovered her partner motionless.

According to the affidavit, Garcia later confirmed to authorities that she and Moreno had been driving in the Tahoe before the incident and that following an altercation, she stopped at a local store.

Garcia told officers that Moreno had stolen her phone and fled, which is why she was after him, according to the affidavit. The paper stated that officers discovered her phone inside the Tahoe and confirmed that her claim about Moreno taking the phone was false.

Moreno’s sister started a GoFundMe page to raise money for his funeral, describing him as “the sweetest brother, uncle, cousin, and friend we ever had.”

Garcia was booked into Tarrant County Corrections Center on Monday and charged with murder in Moreno’s death. Jail records show that her bond was set at $250,000.
