Hallandale Beach (KHN) – A woman who was 25 years old and from South Florida and had been reported missing at the beginning of the previous year was discovered this week after giving birth on a train in New York City.
The woman was identified as Jenny Saint Pierre, a resident of Hallandale Beach, according to the story that was done by the New York Times.
The pregnant woman had been gone for more than a month, according to the authorities at the time. Her ex-boyfriend had seen her for the last time on August 5 at Gulfstream Park, which is located at 901 S. Federal Hwy.
At approximately 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Saint Pierre gave birth on a subway in Midtown Manhattan, as reported by local news stations in New York City.
Passengers reportedly called 911 and ran over to the conductor in an attempt to get him to stop the train, according to witnesses.
Following Saint Pierre’s delivery of her child, one of the passengers severed the umbilical cord of the infant.
It was reported by officials in New York City that the mother and baby were transported to a nearby hospital and are currently in a healthy condition.
Law enforcement officials in Hallandale Beach said that Saint Pierre had been given a diagnosis of schizophrenia.
There is a lack of clarity around whether she intends to remain in New York with her infant or whether she intends to return to South Florida.
