Michigan Man Receives 90-day Sentence for Crash That Killed Two in Van Wert

VAN WERT, Oh (KHN)A Michigan man was sentenced to 90 days in jail for a double-fatality crash in Van Wert last October.

Timothy Kiester, 61, of Berrien Springs, Michigan, was sentenced in Van Wert Municipal Court after pleading guilty to two misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter charges.

According to law officials, on Oct. 21, Kiester was hauling a camper with a pickup on U.S. 127 near the Hickory Sticks Golf Course when he failed to stop in time and collided with a car driven by Zachary Wood, 30, who was stopped to make a turn.

Wood’s car was thrown into the path of a lorry, killing both him and his passenger, Logan Elder, 29.

The judge also ruled that Kiester’s driver’s license be suspended for two years.
