The rope that the kid was using to climb back out of the hole snapped on Monday, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. The teen, who was 16 years old at the time, was rescued from a mine shaft in Northern California that was fifty feet deep.
Authorities stated that the adolescent was rescued after he made an attempt to investigate a mine shaft that was situated in the Auburn State Recreation Area close to China Bar.
The Placer County Fire Department and the Auburn City Fire Department were called to a medical rescue for a “16-year-old male stuck in a vertical mine shaft approximately 50 feet deep,” according to a press release. The rescue operation took place at approximately 3:27 p.m. on Monday.
According to Cal Fire, for the sake of exploration, the young man and his companions traveled approximately 180 feet down the mine shaft and the side of the mountain.
They then rappelled down between 40 and 50 feet using a rope that was found in the house.
The victim is said to have fallen approximately thirty feet back to the bottom of the shaft after the rope snapped while they were climbing back up. His attempt to free climb his way back up was unsuccessful, and he “ultimately lost strength and positioned himself in a precarious ledge awaiting rescuers,” according to the officials.
Rescue workers were directed to the casualty by the teen’s companions as soon as the personnel arrived at the scene. Under the guidance of a “lightweight, complex rope system and established air monitoring,” the Placer County Technical Rescue Team was able to safely rescue the adolescent, according to the California Fire Department.

As soon as possible, the person was transported to a nearby trauma clinic in order to receive care.
As a result of their ability to “facilitate this technical rescue in a very confined and austere environment 180 feet inside of the mountain,” the Placer County rescue team received praise from the California Fire Department department.
