Pedestrian Killed in Late-night Crash on Highway 99 in Lane County, Oregon State Police Say

LANE COUNTY, Ore. (KHN) – According to Oregon State Police, one individual was killed in a vehicle-pedestrian crash on Highway 99.

According to the OSP, the crash occurred on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at around 8:28 p.m. near milepost 3 in Lane County.

According to authorities, Jaidene Raie Torgison, 18, was driving southbound when she collided with a 54-year-old pedestrian, Gary Dale Obert of Eugene, who was on the road.

According to OPS, Obert was declared dead at the site, while Torgison and a passenger, a 17-year-old minor, were not harmed.

Highway 99 was closed for around four hours while authorities performed an on-scene investigation.
