A tragic incident unfolded on Thursday on state Route 74 in California, claiming the life of a 75-year-old man identified as Kenneth Macho from San Diego. The Riverside County Coroner’s office confirmed his identity following a fatal collision involving a tow truck.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) responded to reports of a traffic collision around 12:30 p.m. near Vista Point on Highway 74. According to CHP spokesman David Torres, the accident involved a white Subaru Crosstrek, driven by Macho, and a tow truck, with an elderly woman also in the Subaru.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the Subaru, traveling downhill, crossed over double solid lines into the oncoming lane, resulting in a collision with the tow truck. The exact cause of the lane deviation is still under investigation, leaving authorities seeking answers to the circumstances leading to the tragic crash.
Tragically, Kenneth Macho succumbed to his injuries at the scene, while the woman accompanying him sustained moderate injuries. Additionally, the tow truck driver suffered minor injuries, and both were promptly transported to Desert Regional Medical Center for treatment.
