Donald Trump, the president-elect, announced on Tuesday that he will appoint Kimberly Guilfoyle, a former Fox News star, and Tom Barrack, a longtime friend who is a billionaire, as ambassadors to Greece and Turkey, respectively.

Trump announced the news in two tweets on social media.

Regarding Barrackon Truth Social, Trump said, “Tom successfully managed a global private equity firm for three decades.” “He is a well respected and experienced voice of reason to a wide range of thought leaders in both political and business circles.”

Barrack, who oversaw Trump’s 2017 inauguration committee and created the private equity firm Colony Capital, was cleared in 2022 of allegations that he made false statements to the FBI while serving as an unregistered foreign agent for the United Arab Emirates during the Trump administration.

Trump described Guilfoyle, who said in 2022 that she was engaged to his son Donald Trump Jr., as a longtime close friend and ally in a different post announcing his choice of her to serve as ambassador to Greece.

“Kimberly is perfectly suited to foster strong bilateral relations with Greece, advancing our interests on issues ranging from defense cooperation to trade and economic innovation,” Trump wrote.

The Senate must confirm both appointments. Guilfoyle stated on Tuesday that she was eager to get such backing.

“As ambassador, I look forward to delivering on the Trump agenda, supporting our Greek allies, and ushering in a new era of peace and prosperity,” Guilfoylewrote on X.

Additionally, on Tuesday, Trump appointed Ronald Johnson as ambassador to Mexico rather than the senator.

“Ron will work closely with our great Secretary of State Nominee, Marco Rubio, to promote our Nation s security and prosperity through strong America First Foreign Policies,” Trump stated on Truth Social.

From 2019 until 2021, Johnson served as ambassador to El Salvador during Trump’s first term in office.

Prior to that position, he was in the Army and the Alabama National Guard and served as CIA’s liaison to U.S. Special Operations Command on science and technology.

Trump announced last month that his future administration would choose Charles Kushner, the father of his son-in-law Jared Kushner, as ambassador to France.

Additionally, he appointed Massad Boulous, whose son is married to Tiffany Trump, Trump’s younger daughter, as a senior adviser on Middle Eastern and Arab matters.
