In a distressing event that unfolded in Middletown, New York, two individuals lost their lives as a result of a stabbing incident on April 1st, 2024. A 30-year-old man from Orange County is now facing serious charges, including murder and manslaughter, in the wake of this harrowing occurrence.
The incident was first reported in the vicinity of 33 Ruth Court in Middletown, where initial police statements revealed that a stabbing had taken place. The City of Middletown Police Department swiftly initiated an investigation, dispatching officers and detectives to the scene.
Upon arrival, they discovered two male victims who had suffered multiple stab wounds in separate locations at the residence—one found outside on the sidewalk and the other inside the home. Tragically, the individual found inside was pronounced dead at the scene.
The second victim, found with severe injuries on the sidewalk, was quickly transported by Empress EMS to Garnet Medical Center. Despite undergoing surgery, he tragically passed away from his injuries during the procedure.
At this time, the names of the deceased, both residents of 33 Ruth Court, have not been disclosed.
In connection with the fatal stabbings, Kenol Baptiste, also a resident of 33 Ruth Court, has been apprehended by law enforcement. Baptiste was located in a nearby wooded area by Officers Joseph Brownstein, Michael McDoland, and the K9 unit, Camo.
He faces charges including second-degree murder, first-degree manslaughter, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, marking a somber chapter in this Middletown community’s history.
