Alabama National Guard’s 128th Military Police Company Deployed to Romania for NATO Duties

A group of Alabama National Guard soldiers is heading to Romania to support U.S. military efforts in Europe.

These troops belong to the 128th Military Police Company, based in Athens, Alabama. Around 120 soldiers from this unit will be deployed for about one year.

Their mission is to assist in NATO’s efforts to ensure peace and stability in the region. Romania is a key NATO ally, especially because of its location near Ukraine, where tensions with Russia continue.

The soldiers will first undergo final training and checks before they move out. Their job in Romania will involve military policing duties, including security operations, helping allied forces, and maintaining order.

Alabama Governor Kay Ivey praised the soldiers for their service, calling them “brave men and women” and saying their work strengthens both the U.S. and its partnerships overseas.

Families and friends gathered to see them off and show support as they prepared for the year-long mission.

This deployment is part of the broader U.S. military commitment to support NATO allies and keep Europe secure. Such missions also provide real-time experience and build strong international ties.

This isn’t the first time the 128th Military Police Company has been deployed overseas. In the past, they’ve served in Iraq and other parts of Europe, proving their skill and dedication time and again.

Their presence in Romania will boost NATO’s overall security efforts while also representing Alabama on the global stage.
