A man was seriously injured in an ATV accident that happened just outside of Peterson, Iowa, and authorities say charges may be filed soon. The crash occurred around 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29, on the 4400 mile of 110th Avenue in Clay County.
According to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened when 54-year-old Daniel L. Reuter from Peterson was riding a 2023 Honda ATV on a gravel road. While heading north, Reuter lost control of the vehicle. The ATV rolled over, and Reuter was thrown off the machine.
Reuter suffered serious injuries and was taken to the Spencer Hospital by the Peterson Ambulance crew. The sheriff’s office confirmed that the injuries were not life-threatening, but the incident is being looked into carefully.
Officials said the ATV was not registered for public road use, and Reuter was not wearing any safety equipment at the time of the accident. These are some of the reasons authorities are now considering criminal charges.
