Birmingham Police Identify 40-Year-Old Man Killed in Fatal Ensley Shooting

A man who was shot and killed in Birmingham’s Ensley neighborhood on Sunday morning has now been identified.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office confirmed that the victim was 40-year-old Cornelius Bernard Strong from Birmingham.

According to Birmingham police, officers responded to a report of a shooting around 4 a.m. near the 1600 block of 32nd Street, Ensley.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found Strong lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds. Birmingham Fire and Rescue responded, but despite efforts, Strong was pronounced dead at the scene shortly afterward.

Authorities said they believe Strong was involved in an altercation with another man that escalated into gunfire. No arrests have been made so far, and investigators are still working to determine what exactly led to the shooting.

The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is urged to contact the Birmingham Police Department or call Crime Stoppers anonymously.
