Care Net Pregnancy Services of NKY receives Kentucky Colonels grant to provide infant car seats

Published On:

The Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels (HOKC) has granted Care Net Pregnancy Services of Northern Kentucky a $2,065 grant to buy newborn car seats for clients in immediate need of the equipment.

Parents who must bring their infant home from the hospital or grandparents who find themselves suddenly in charge of a grandchild are examples of such circumstances. Every year, Care Net provides car seats in roughly 35 of these cases.

Without the assistance of such kind organizations, we couldn’t meet the needs of our clients and the community,” said Joy Tarleton, director of development at Care Net and a Kentucky Colonel since 2016.

Since 1999, Care Net has provided services to Northern Kentucky. During more than 3,800 visits last year, its 28-member crew welcomed 955 distinct clients, and this year they are expected to surpass those figures. Care Net runs three medical facilities: one in Williamstown, one in Cold Spring, and one in Florence.

Pregnancy tests, restricted obstetric ultrasounds, parenting workshops, and other resources including diapers, car seats, cribs, baby meals, and 2T clothing are all provided by the nonprofit. Care Net launched a body literacy/sexual health program this year and started providing testing and treatment for STDs in 2022. Over 100 locals volunteer to support the ministry’s purpose, including trained mentors. All services are provided to clients at no cost, and Care Net is sponsored by donations.

Gary Boschert, the HOKC Commanding General, said, It was difficult to complete grant requests in 2024–2025, with a total of $5 million in requests. We were able to use the Good Works Program to disburse $2.5 million. The Commonwealth’s organizations receive every dollar donated to the Good Works Program. Donations from Kentucky Colonels who choose to meaningfully exercise the honor of being designated a Kentucky Colonel throughout the Commonwealth and beyond enable grants. This year, our combined efforts supported over 4 million Commonwealth residents.
