Dog Walker Charged With Burglary at Client’s Home in Morris County, Police Say

A dog walker in Morris County is facing serious charges after allegedly breaking into a client’s home. According to police, 33-year-old Meghan Brady, a resident of Rockaway, was arrested for burglary and theft after an incident involving one of her clients.

The Rockaway Township Police Department reported that the investigation began on May 18, when a homeowner contacted officers about a suspected break-in.

The resident told police that they had hired Brady as a dog walker through a pet care app. The homeowner became suspicious after noticing some items were missing from the house.

After reviewing surveillance footage, the homeowner discovered that Brady allegedly entered the home without permission on a day she was not scheduled to provide dog walking services. Authorities say that she took items from the residence without the owner’s knowledge.

Following the complaint, police arrested Brady and charged her with burglary and theft. She was later released pending her court appearance, as per standard procedure.

The incident has raised concerns for pet owners who rely on third-party apps for pet care services.

While many dog walking and pet sitting services offer background checks and vetting, police recommend homeowners remain cautious and consider using security measures like cameras or smart locks when letting service providers into their homes.

The case is now being handled by the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office. Anyone with more information about the incident is encouraged to contact the Rockaway Township Police Department.
