The Emergency Shelter of Northern Kentucky’s board of directors has declared that Kim M. Webb, its executive director, has been appointed CEO.
Webb will be in charge of ESNKY’s daily operations and mission and vision in his new role.
In May, Webb, who has been executive director since June 2015, took over as CEO. Webb has been in charge of ESNKY’s expansion during her tenure, which included a successful $4.2 million capital campaign to relocate to their cutting-edge facility on W. 13th Street in Covington, which welcomed visitors in February 2022.
On Tuesday, July 22, ESNKY will hold a public ceremony to commemorate Kim’s tenth anniversary. The event will invite shelter visitors, community partners, supporters, and friends, and will include a BBQ at their facility located on W. 13th Street in Covington.
Webb is a seasoned local non-profit leader who is now on the Executive Committee of the Safety Net Alliance of NKY, the Kentucky Interagency Council on Homelessness, and the Kentucky Department of Public Health Harm Reduction Advisory Committee. She also serves on the board of the Leadership Council for Nonprofits. She has received regional recognition for her leadership and significant community service, including being recognized an Outstanding Woman of Northern Kentucky by the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce in 2020.
“I’m honored to take on the role of Chief Executive Officer as I celebrate ten years of service with the Emergency Shelter of Northern Kentucky,” she added. Our organization’s expansion and our strong dedication to purposeful leadership are both reflected in this title.
Webb will take a scheduled break from August to October after the anniversary celebration. On November 1, just in time for the launch of the organization’s Winter Cold Shelter program, she will resume her role as CEO.
Ruslyn Case-Compton, ESNKY’s current office manager, will act as director during this period. After seven years with the company, Case-Compton has significant non-profit leadership expertise. All full-time employees who have worked with ESNKY for eight years or more are now eligible for the sabbatical benefit.
Webb expressed his gratitude to our leadership team for filling in for me during my absence and to our Board of Directors for approving a progressive sabbatical policy. I see my time away as a blessing and an investment in the shelter’s long-term viability, and I’m excited to return this fall as CEO with a fresh perspective, more drive to further our purpose, and renewed concentration.
