Green Valley Legion Hosts “The Wave” to Raise Awareness and Support for Homeless Veterans

In Green Valley, Arizona, a local group is stepping up to help veterans in need. The American Legion Post 66 recently hosted an event called “The Wave,” where people came together to show support for homeless veterans.

This special event took place on Duval Mine Road, where volunteers and community members stood with American flags, waving to drivers and raising awareness.

The goal of “The Wave” is to bring attention to the issue of veteran homelessness and to show appreciation for the sacrifices made by those who served in the military.

It also helps raise donations and community support for the Legion’s programs that assist veterans in need, especially those without stable housing.

Veterans and locals of all ages were seen at the event, proudly holding flags and sharing stories. Some participants said they had family members in the military, while others were veterans themselves. Many drivers honked and waved back in support, showing how deeply this cause touched the community.

The American Legion in Green Valley has been active for years, organizing events, fundraisers, and services for local veterans.

Events like “The Wave” not only show public support but also encourage people to donate or volunteer. With rising concerns about the mental health and housing needs of veterans, these small community efforts make a real difference.

Organizers said they hope to continue holding “The Wave” in the future and encourage more people to join. For them, it’s not just about waving flags—it’s about honoring service, raising awareness, and helping veterans get back on their feet.
