Jail Escapee Faces Justice: Found Guilty of Assault, Acquitted of Murder Attempt!

A man who escaped from a Georgia jail has been found guilty of assaulting a Leon County deputy but was acquitted of attempting to murder the officer, court records show.

John Mincey, who fled from the Tattnall County Jail in 2022, was tracked down to Tallahassee, Florida, by authorities.

Prosecutors claimed that Mincey assaulted a deputy who was trying to arrest him, tackling the officer to the ground, beating him, and attempting to take his gun.

Despite the serious charges, the jury did not find enough evidence to convict Mincey of attempted murder.

Instead, they found him guilty of battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest with violence.

Mincey will face sentencing in July for his crimes.
