Joni Ernst Kicks Off 99 County Tour with Key Stops in Iowa City and Parkersburg This Week

Senator Joni Ernst is visiting several communities in eastern Iowa next week as part of her yearly tradition called the 99 County Tour.

The Republican senator, who has represented Iowa in the U.S. Senate since 2015, will meet with Iowans in different towns to talk about local issues, answer questions, and hear directly from the public.

This year, her tour includes scheduled stops in Iowa City and Parkersburg. In Iowa City, she plans to meet with staff and students at the University of Iowa’s College of Nursing.

Ernst’s team says the visit will focus on health care, rural nursing, and the future of medical care in Iowa. It’s part of her continued efforts to understand the needs of students and professionals in the healthcare field.

Later in the day, she will be heading to Parkersburg for a public town hall meeting. Town halls are open to everyone and give locals a chance to voice their concerns, ask questions, and engage in a direct conversation with their elected official.

These events are especially important for people in smaller towns who may not always feel heard in Washington.

Senator Ernst has said many times that her 99 County Tour is one of her top priorities each year. By visiting each of Iowa’s 99 counties, she says she stays connected to the real issues people are facing—from agriculture to healthcare, infrastructure education. According to her office, this hands-on approach helps her bring Iowa’s voice to the Senate.

Over the years, Ernst has talked with farmers, small business owners, teachers, veterans, and families during these county visits.

Her supporters say the tour shows her commitment to transparency and public service. Critics, however, often use the events to raise tough questions or press her on controversial topics, including national policies and local funding concerns.

Residents of both Iowa City and Parkersburg are encouraged to attend the meetings and share their views.
