Amelia Wares has been appointed as an executive operations fellow at LifeSciKY, a nonprofit lab incubator.
Wares will assist with business endeavors, community involvement, and high-level planning. As the institution gets ready to unveil its brand-new life sciences lab later this year, she will also help Executive Director Dr. Christin Godale with daily operations.
Wares, a University of Cincinnati student studying biomedical engineering, is the creator of the digital health software TissuTrak, which helps people manage chronic illnesses. She also represents the UC Center for Entrepreneurship as a student.
“We’re excited to welcome Amelia to the LifeSciKY team with her experience in clinical research and medical device startups,” Godale added. Her experience provides a distinct viewpoint, and I am confident that she will play a significant role in our endeavors to enhance the life sciences environment in Northern Kentucky. Amelia, a startup herself, will help to foster up-and-coming biotech talent while serving as a reliable resource for our Lab Residents.
Right now, LifeSciKY is getting ready to welcome the first lab residents to its facility in Covington. Located at the OneNKY Center, the 15,000-square-foot facility will give early-stage life sciences entrepreneurs access to modern equipment, reasonably priced labs, and vital resources.
“I’m thrilled to be a part of the expanding community of entrepreneurs and life sciences leaders right here in Northern Kentucky,” Wares said, adding that innovation has the capacity to change lives. I was intrigued to LifeSciKY’s strong dedication to inspiring and teaching the next generation of talent since I am both an entrepreneur and a student. Northern Kentucky is rapidly becoming into a vibrant center for innovation, and I’m honored to be a part of it thanks to resources like the new lab and the neighboring SparkHaus.
