Man Charged With Aggravated Assault While DUI for Spring Township Crash That Injured Woman

A 39-year-old man from Pennsylvania is now facing serious charges after police say he was driving under the influence and caused a crash that seriously injured a woman in Centre County.

The crash happened around 3:15 p.m. on May 10 near the 1400 block of Brush Valley Road in Spring Township.

According to a report from Spring Township police, the man, identified as Jason Lee Hockenberry from Lewistown, was driving his 2011 Dodge Charger when he crossed into the opposite lane and crashed into a woman’s car.

The woman was driving a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu. When the two cars collided, her car was pushed off the road and ended up in a field. She suffered serious injuries and had to be taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center by ambulance.

Police said Hockenberry showed signs of being impaired. Officers performed a field sobriety test at the scene, and Hockenberry did not pass. A blood test later confirmed he was under the influence.

Hockenberry has been charged with felony aggravated assault by vehicle while DUI, misdemeanor DUI, and multiple traffic violations. He was arraigned on May 22 and later released on $50,000 unsecured bail.

Court records show his preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 5 at the Centre County Courthouse.

The Spring Township Police Department continues to investigate the crash and reminds all drivers to avoid driving under the influence, as it puts many lives at risk.
