White House trade advisor Peter Navarro dismissed any concerns about a feud with billionaire Elon Musk, emphasizing that their relationship remains strong.
“First of all, Elon and I are great. It’s not an issue,” Navarro stated during his appearance on NBC News’ “Meet the Press” on Sunday.
His comments come after a public dispute between the two last week, when Navarro criticized Musk’s Tesla, calling it more of a “car assembler” than a “car manufacturer” due to its reliance on parts from other countries.
However, Navarro downplayed the exchange, praising Musk for his contributions to the Trump administration.
“Everything’s fine with Elon,” Navarro said. “And look, Elon is doing a very good job with his team, addressing waste, fraud, and abuse. That’s a tremendous contribution to America. No one doing that kind of work should be subject to having their cars firebombed by crazies.”
The White House also downplayed the situation, with press secretary Karoline Leavitt suggesting that the feud highlights President Donald Trump’s willingness to listen to diverse perspectives at the highest level.
“These are two individuals with very different views on trade and tariffs. Boys will be boys, and we’ll let their public sparring continue,” she remarked during a press briefing last week. “You should all be grateful that we have the most transparent administration in history.”
