Pennsylvania residents who have a valid license to carry a concealed firearm now have one more state where their permit is accepted.
South Carolina has become the 30th state to recognize Pennsylvania’s concealed carry permit, according to a recent announcement by the Pennsylvania State Police.
This change is the result of a new agreement between the two states. Now, Pennsylvanians can legally carry concealed firearms in South Carolina, as long as they follow that state’s laws while carrying. In return, South Carolina permit holders can also carry in Pennsylvania under the same agreement.
For those who have a License to Carry Firearms (LTCF) issued by Pennsylvania, this means more flexibility and ease when traveling.
However, permit holders need to remember that even though they can now carry in South Carolina, they still have to follow that state’s specific gun laws, which may differ from Pennsylvania’s.
Authorities are advising all gun owners to check the rules and restrictions of any state they plan to visit. What’s legal in one state may not be legal in another. So, knowing the local laws can help avoid any legal trouble.
The full list of states that now honor Pennsylvania’s concealed carry permit includes South Carolina, bringing the total to 30. This is seen as a positive step for many Pennsylvanians who travel often and want to be able to carry their firearms legally across more state lines.
