PSA flight attendants seek higher wages

On Monday afternoon, flight attendants for PSA Airlines staged a picket demonstration. Flight attendants from American Airlines subsidiary PSA Airlines participated in a nationwide day of action in front of the Crown at Charlotte Douglas International Airport. Charlotte is among the PSA bases where flight attendants are calling for a new contract with increased pay.

According to the Association of Flight Attendants, PSA crews have been employed under the same contract for over two years, despite requests for pay raises and improvements in their quality of life from other firms. Sean Griffin, president of the AFA, expressed his hope that PSA can come to a comparable agreement.

“Wages have increased by double digits for everyone. They had witnessed the boarding pay. They’ve had retro pay and notable schedule changes, and that’s what we’re expecting for too,” he said.

The union pointed out that a recent American Airlines flight attendant contract contained hikes of almost 20%. Following discussions with PSA flight attendants, management has so far suggested a one-digit hike. Air Canada flight attendants went on strike on Friday, which resulted in numerous aircraft cancellations.
