Authorities are continuing their search for a Kenyan grandfather who went missing in Calera. The 72-year-old man, identified as Elijah Kimani, was last seen by his family near a local park in Calera on June 1, 2025.
His family reported him missing after he failed to return home that evening. The family is deeply concerned as the elderly man suffers from a medical condition that requires regular medication, which he has not had access to since his disappearance.
Local police and volunteer groups have joined forces to search the area around the park, including nearby wooded areas and local ponds, but they have yet to locate any clues about his whereabouts.
Investigators are using dogs to help with the search, and helicopter teams have also been deployed to cover a broader area.
Kimani’s family has urged anyone with information to come forward and assist the authorities. “We just want him home safe,” his daughter, Margaret Njeri, said in a statement. “He’s very important to us, and we need him back.”
The search has drawn attention from the local community, with several residents offering their support and joining the search efforts. Volunteers have been gathering at the park each day, distributing flyers with Kimani’s photo and details about his disappearance.
The police have also reached out to the local media to spread awareness about the case, hoping to gather any new leads. As of now, authorities have not confirmed any new information but continue to urge the public to remain vigilant.
Elijah Kimani’s family remains hopeful that he will be found soon, and they continue to rely on the support of the community to help bring him home. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Calera Police Department immediately.
